This linked to our curriculum work in History and English this term. They enjoyed acting out the story of ‘George and the dragon’ and they helped Sir George to identify his armour. They were given the opportunity to touch and try on real armour, they learned about royal etiquette and they also helped Sir George to rebuild his castle after the dragon attack. In the afternoon, they watch a re-enactment of a real knight fight.
Staff at the Royal Armouries commented on how engaged and well behaved the children were on the day. Photos and video footage of our visit (of those children who gave permission) will be featured on the Armouries website in the coming weeks.
