‘Living things and their habitats’
As part of their Science topic ‘Living things and their habitats’ Class 1 spent the afternoon in the garden building a bug hotel, with the added benefit that it will keep all the newly planted fruit and vegetables safe from being eaten by aphids! The children searched for and grouped different materials including bark, pot, leaves and logs. They also measured, cut out and rolled up pieces of cardboard to make a home for lacewings.
Big thankyou to Chrissie who organised the activity and all the materials. The garden is looking wonderful and the children learnt lots while having an amazing time!
Year 6 Bikeability
We are very proud of the year 6s across The Federation, who took part in Bikeability over week commencing 4th June. They all completed Levels 1 and 2 which involved learning how to manoeuvre and signal safely around Follifoot and Spofforth villages.
Ro-icket
Follifoot and Spofforth had a brilliant time at Ro-icket. The children played so well and showed some fab sporting attitudes. Follifoot came joint first and Spofforth came joint second. Well done everybody!
Gardening at Follifoot School
Class 3 at Follifoot have been working hard in the School Garden. In preparation for our cooking project next term, we have planted a range of seeds and plants which we can then harvest. This includes pak choi, lettuce, spinach, radish, carrots, broccoli and herbs. We are excited to see what grows and what delicious dishes we can create!
Year 6 Pre SATs breakfast
Year 6’s at Follifoot School are enjoying a delicious breakfast organised by Mrs Bromley before their SATs tests each morning this week!
The Royal Armouries Trip
On Tuesday 7th May, children from Years 3&4 across The Federation visited The Royal Armouries.
The children have been learning about Ancient Greece in history. Whilst at the Armouries, they took part in Agoge Spartan training and a workshop on the myth of Perseus and Medusa. They also had some time to explore the galleries.
Happy Earth Day.
