We will be offering wraparound care after school from September 2025

Class 4 ( Years 5 & 6) at Spofforth

Welcome to Class 4!

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils are taught by Mrs Clarke (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Fardon (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) and are supported each day by Mr Bolton (teaching assistant).

In Year 5&6 our children take on greater responsibility throughout the school and become role models for our younger school community to look up to. Not only do they lead assemblies, organise whole school events and speak at special collective worship services throughout the year, they are also ‘buddies’ to our children in Class 1, nurturing and looking out for them in their first year of school life.

As well as working hard, we also have a plenty of fun, excitement and many opportunities planned to encourage and enable our children to thrive. For our Year 6 pupils, this is the bridge between primary and secondary education, and we strive to help prepare them for this next formative chapter of their lives.

Long Term Curriculum Plans

As we have a mixed age class we use a cycle A/B approach to teaching to ensure we cover all aspects of the National Curriculum. In 2025 – 2026 we are in cycle B
