Netball Finals Competition

Big thanks to the year 5 and 6 girls at Follifoot and year 6 girls at Spofforth who were in the netball finals on Tuesday 19th March at Ashville School against 4 or 5 other schools. They played so well and had such a fun time and a HUGE congratulations to Spofforth who won the finals!

Years 3&4 Federation trip to The Yorkshire Sculpture Park

On Wednesday 13th March, Years 3 and 4 from across The Federation visited The Yorkshire Sculpture Park. To consolidate the children’s learning about ‘Sculpture’ during Art and Design in school, they had the opportunity to explore the park and take part in a workshop with an artist.

Class 2 at Spofforth-Sculptures in Art.

Class 2 at Spofforth have been learning about Sculptures in art. We explored using clay and learning techniques such as flattening, smoothing, creating shapes and making marks. We created our own sculptures inspired by the artist Anthony Gormley who created a field of sculptures. We made a Spofforth class 2 field! They were so enthusiastic!

Green Jumper Day at Spofforth School

Children at Spofforth wore their green jumpers (and socks, hairbands, t-shirts!) on the 1st March for our Green Jumper Day. We wore our jumpers to remind us about how much we need to care for the environment. Each class turned down their radiators a little and kept warm in their jumpers. We also had a half hour switch off to save electricity. We turned off the lights and all our electrical equipment. At the end of the day each class made paper chains using the scrap paper we had collected during the day. At Spofforth we care about our planet, it was great to have a day to remind us of all the things we can do to help it.
